Senate Bill (SB) 788 was signed by the Governor in October 2009 making California the 50th state to License Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC). Professional Counselors hold different titles throughout our nation, some are called Mental Health Counselors or Professional Counselor, but all come under the Legal and Ethical Codes of the American Mental Health Counselor Association (AMHCA) and the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) who provides testing for many states licensing process.

CAMHCA is the California division of the American Mental Health Counselors Association, the only National association working exclusively for the mental health counseling profession.
